With beaches rimming its eastern, southern and western shores, the island’s geography presents another remarkable phenomenon: the sun both rises and sets over the Atlantic Ocean each day.

It’s also the northernmost subtropical environment on the East Coast, making it a haven for a wide array of wildlife, including nearly 200 species of birds, dolphins, loggerhead turtles, alligators, deer, foxes, and an amazing variety of fish. In this area, large sand bars seasonally emerge from and subsequently retreat into the sea.īald Head is the southernmost of North Carolina’s cape islands, marked by the legendary Cape Fear. The first thing that you will notice about Bald Head Island is the natural beauty that surrounds you. I apologize you were unaware of the outdoor shower for the crofter, we have it clearly listed in the description for Shifting Sands. From the moment that you depart on a private passenger ferry from the Indigo Plantation Marina in Southport, you will know that you are about to experience something special. Thank you for your feedback! I apologize, we never received a message requesting additional beach towels, we would have been more than happy to deliver more, extremely sorry! Since the crofter is detached from the main home, would not feel comfortable putting bunk beds in that room. Response from Intracoastal Realty Corporation It might’ve been better to have all the bunk beds for kids there instead of using the bedroom in the main floor-We were there for a wedding and two of the guests had to use the outdoor shower. The cottage outside of the house, did not have a shower. I called management but never heard back. House is beautiful- but for the price it should’ve had more than two beach towels for 8+ people.
